An Appreciative Moment

I have no real entry or article or witty spout of words for you today, and I apologize, but I would like to mention blogger Stuck In My Head, and thank her (I'm pretty sure its a her >.<' ).

I found her blog Shouldn't Life Be More Than This after she put up a link to me in a post referencing blogs she'd read. Along with a link to my latest post about McCain she wrote a basic description and bit of opinion.
I don't normally mention blogs that link me, or I trade links with, but I wanted to point out how much I appreciate that she mentioned me in her blog. It's the first time anyone has (as far as I know), and I see it as an honor to be thought of and something of a milestone on my blogging journey.
Thank you. :)

So, I recommend checking out SLBMTT (because it is a good read; with Def Poetry clips, news info, and well written descriptions and personals) and thank you for stopping by, I'll have something up for you as soon as possible (hopefully tomorrow night).

The Joke of Contraception in Politics. A Plea.

I don't usually talk about politics because, honestly, I don't want to. Politics and religion are the two topics that no one on different sides will ever really be able to discuss rationally, everyone's too goddamned convinced that they're right and everyone else is wrong.

But today I'm going to go against my mini pledge. I'm going to talk about Politics. Just a little bit. Please don't run off scared, because this is important.

I've had the basic idea of John McCain's status on Abstinence Only Education (he's all for it) since I first did research on the elections in the spring. It made me dislike him. But after reading This Article, I started doing some more research into an accusation which seemed far more horrifying than just AOE.

My findings say this: John McCain is AGAINST Sex Education AND Contraception (including Condoms).

Let me say that again. John McCain is AGAINST CONTRACEPTION.
That includes birth control pills, Plan B pills, and CONDOMS!!

Contraception is one of the most important topics of today's society.
Condoms are vital in the prevention of HIV and teen pregnancy, and Birth Control is one of the most issues in Women's Health because it prevents pregnancy as well as aiding in other medical problems.
Contraception and Birth Control is a Basic Medical issue and a basic medical Right! It isn't just sexual health or reproductive rights, it is Women's Health.

But McCain's status on Condoms is that he "isn't sure they really prevent" pregnancy or STDs.
He has voted AGAINST allowing or paying for Contraception every single time he's gotten the chance to.

To a reporter in Iowa, when asked about contraception and HIV (talking mostly about condoms and AIDS in Africa), he said "I’m not informed enough on it."

What??? A Presidential Candidate not INFORMED about one of the most important social issues?
If he's lying to save his own ass, what a horrible way to do it. Just say your against contraception and take your stand. He's supposed to be a "straight talker" who will take on questions and accusations against his issues head on, but he stumbles over contraception??
If he's not lying, and really doesn't know (or care about) contraception, then why the hell would we want him as President?

And that's not the first time he's said that. So many times when asked about contraception issues, he responds with "I don't know...etc". Even going so far as to ask his press secretary what his stance on the issues were!
Do we want a President who doesn't know about these issues?

At another time, when asked about the fact that Viagra is paid for by insurance but birth control isn't (he'd recently voted against a bill that would have birth control paid for along WITH what it pays for now-Viagra), he responded "I certainly do not want to discuss that issue".

Once again, WHAT? He doesn't want to talk about it? How can a Presidential Candidate not want to talk about an important issue? Do we want a president who is uncomfortable with talking about these important issues? He then says that he "doesn't usually duck an issue, but I'll get back to you".
Well we've got more instances where he DID duck that very same issue!

In this case you'd think it'd make perfect sense for any insurance that covers Viagra to cover birth control as well. As if the two weren't completely related to each other.

Today I even discovered an article talking about the new "definition" of Pregnancy. The government has decided to THROW OUT the established MEDICAL definition of pregnancy as beginning at implantation (when an egg attaches to the Uterus lining), and instead adopt the religious PUBLIC OPINION that pregnancy starts at conception (the meeting of the egg and sperm) as the new DEFINITION. This is an attempt at defining any hormonal contraception as ABORTION, which it's NOT! This also goes on to propose a new rule that would allow government funded programs to DENY women BIRTH CONTROL, and any company that didn't hire someone who would REFUSE BIRTH CONTROL to patients would be threatened.

This is just one step closer to outlawing Contraception in the US. Can you believe it?
Abstinence Only is one thing, but these little bitty steps towards completely ANNIHILATING the RIGHTS of women and their HEALTH is getting ridiculous and, frankly, absolutely frightening.

I don't care if your republican, democrat, christian, pro-life, pro-choice, pro-abortion,or pro-abstinence only, you cannot support a complete lack of Contraception and Condoms!

I don't care who you usually vote for, who you're planning on voting for, or why, but PLEASE don't vote for McCain. If you care about health, sexuality, or just WOMEN, PLEASE don't vote for him!
A man who doesn't want to talk about vital health issues and doesn't know enough about contraception to simply answer a question should NOT be allowed to be our entire countries President!

*deep breath*
I can deal with abortion being illegal or Abstinence Only taking over the schools, but if Contraception is banned in the US, or made legally ridiculously hard to get, I'm moving to Canada or England. And for the first time, I'm completely serious.

I can't support a country that doesn't support basic Civil and Women's Health Rights.

Position of the Week $

Currently Watching: The Secretary :: Starring Maggie Gyllenhaal & James Spader

This weeks position is: "The Rising"
Also called Right Angle Position, The Yawning.

In movies and porn you often see couples going at it in something like missionary, but with the womans legs against the guys chest, her high-heeled feet dangling behind his back. This is something like that, but just a little bit more complex.

Directions:
Here the woman lies on her back, the man standing on his knees in front of her. He grips her legs and she supports herself with her hands above/behind her on the bed or headboard as he lifts her legs up and rests them against his body, her ankles on either side of his head. The woman now should have her hips off the bed/ground, and both her legs firmly against the mans body, with their pelvises in line with each other. The guy can hold her legs either at the ankle, knees, or thighs, but preferably her hips while her legs rest inside his elbows, and he penetrates in this position. Traditionally, he should move in "slow circular motions" while she stays still.

So lets talk about this one, one gender at a time.

Guys: You're probably going to love this. Probably. Despite the work it takes to get everything situated, the depth of insertion here (according to W) is fantastic. The womans vagina is shortened a little bit, so your penis goes all the way in, and completely "fills" her.
There's little effort on your part really, except for the fact that your standing on your knees, which can get tiring after a while. And here you have almost total control over speed, pressure, and depth.
"It was hard to keep a grip, but the angle of penetration was...nice. It felt good. It felt open." -W

Ladies: You...might like this. If you have decently strong abs, don't get tired too easily, and don't mind your legs falling asleep halfway through, sure.
The angle isn't uncomfortable once you get used to it, it's just a bit odd the first time, so comfort isn't a really a problem here. Except for your legs... But if you're really into it, my negative comments can be thrown to the wind, because all this one really takes is practice.
The angle does give lots of space for a decent view, or for a vibrator to slip in and give you an extra boost when wanted.
I bet this also burns twice as many calories than regular missionary, simply because of how your fighting to keep up your hips. A great ab workout. Mix that with the good vibrator area, and you've got yourself a pleasurable-and productive- time. ^-^
Although you should definitely skip this one if you have neck or back problems.

I have to say that this is one worth trying, at least, especially if your willing to do the practice ("make research", as W says quite often). I only tried it once, and only for a little while, and because I definitely don't have the abs to hold myself up like that, my personal discomfort shouldn't deter you from at least trying it next time you hop into bed. If you're looking for something new and interesting, this should be on your list.

The angle and depth alone make it worth trying, if only for the guy, and if your the adventurous type, it's pretty cool just to be able to say "Yeah, I did that one". So I say give it a shot.

Tried it? Loved it? Hated it? Found one better? Let me know! Email me at Sinsekret@gmail.com or AIM me under SinSekret.

Sorry no erotica this time, but I've got the next one almost done (already!), and there is a short story, and it's by W, so it's something different.
By the way, we've hit over 1,000 hits so far this month! Fucking awesome!!!

Masturbation (Thats this months theme, being National Masturbation Month)

Positions, Techniques, Tips, etc (This is slightly covered by the Position of the Week, but I'm working to both improve those posts, as well as get more tips/techniques available. This would be much easier if people would send me questions or-maybe- ideas)

And future articles for the less requested ones like BDSM, Anal/Oral, History, and Homosexuality.

It makes me kind of sad that Contraception got only 2 votes. Oh well. It's not like I'm not going to talk about it anyway.

So now I'm taking that poll down and replacing it. With the next Many Ways to Play Safe I'll take down the contraception poll as well.

Tonight or tomorrow I'll have the new Position of the Week, so make sure to check back. I'm hoping to start including a new concept in them, I'll see you then.

We All Wanna Change Your Head

Currently Reading: My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands by Chelsea Handler

So I know I've been really horrible about updating, and I'm trying to be better,
I promise. There just comes lots of times when I just don't feel like I have anything worthwhile to say. And you shouldn't blog if you don't have anything useful to say, right? So today I would like to explain why I created this blog.

I set out to make Sin's Secret mainly because of a sudden interest- and disgust- with the recent pushing of the government's Abstinence Only campaign.

For those of you who don't know, the AO campaign gives money to pretty much ANY organization (schools, churches, charities, etc.) IF-and only if- they teach their children/congregation/customers about abstinence. And only abstinence. They aren't allowed to teach about SAFE SEX or distribute safe sex paraphernalia or condoms. No, they have to preach the glories of abstinence and why it is the BEST option. Do they really go into details of everyones other options? Nope. They aren't allowed. It's abstinence= Yay Condoms =Bad Sex=Hell

Well how very helpful.
Do you think that a kid has been told their whole life NOT to do something tis really going to worry about being safe while they're breaking that rule? I mean, when you're running from the cops, do you always make sure to look both ways before you dash across the street? No, you're kinda busy thinking about how much shit you're going to be in when they catch you.

I think they had something like this hundreds of years ago, except it was mainly for women and when they found out you had sex you were beaten to death!

Did I mention that this isn't just for children? The Abstinence Only Campaign teaches to everyone below the age of 29 who isn't married. 29!

The idiotic idea here is that if you teach kids about sex, and how to be safe if you choose to do it, you are promoting sexual activity! That if you pass out condoms, you're promoting promiscuity. That kids don't really have sex when you tell them they shouldn't. I mean, young people never do things you tell them not to, especially if God backs you up, right? (I won't even get into the God part.)

How does this make sense? I mean, if I was handed a condom in high school, I probably would have slipped it in my pocket and it would have stayed there. I wouldn't have gone "Ooh, look, I have a condom! I should go have sex! I wasn't thinking about it at all before, but I am now! Thanks to this little piece of latex in my pocket, I think I'll go get laid, turn into a slut, and get Gonorrhea!" I mean shit, do they really think we think like that?

I might not be completely up to par with my facts, but that is the Abstinence Only Campaign as I've come to understand it. And as I've come to hate it.

That's pretty much why I started Sin's Secret. As a way to help people who aren't getting the information they need. Whether they be 12, 20, or 50 years old. Whether they've been having sex for years, planning on giving it a try, or are completely against the idea.

I wasn't taught sex ed. Ever. My first sexual experiences were with an abusive, coercive boyfriend when I was barely into high school. So many horrible things could have happened, I was lucky they didn't. I was smarter than that. But I still didn't know enough. I have spent a lot of time since then learning, to help make up for what I didn't know then.
I want teenagers today to know enough. I want them to learn about sex, to know the dangers, to know the joys; to be safe and enjoy sex.

I am Sin Secret, and this is my personal protest against Abstinence Only.

The Many Ways to Play Safe *Part Uno*

On the market today there are lots of different kinds of birth control. It seems that some of the biggest problems with teen pregnancy and the spread of STIs is that not enough people know about them. There just isn't enough actual information (other than in advertisements) about what the options are, what they do, and how to get them.
So here is the first part of my- three part- basic, but slightly complicated list of birth control options available right now. This way, hopefully, more of you will know more and be able to play safer.

Birth Control Pills
(and other Hormonal Methods)

BC comes in all shapes and sizes. From pills to shots to patches to little plastic rings you stick up your crotch, they're all over the place. In some countries, they even have birth control for men- finally! Birth Control works in several ways, depending on what kind you use. Most do three general things;
-prevent sperm from reaching eggs
-prevent eggs from fertilizing
-prevent uterus lining from building up, so if something is fertilized, it cannot attach and grow.
Not to mention all the other add-ons they've been throwing into these things lately. Now BC can fight acne, help you loose weight, or make your skin brighter, its pretty friggin' cool.

Anyway, these are what is called "Hormonal Methods" of birth control, which means that unlike Barrier methods like condoms, caps, and diaphragms, they rely solely on the hormones they give you.
Other kinds of hormonal methods include the ring- like NuvaRing, patches, shots, and even inserts, which are little rods they put under the skin of your arm. These are pretty cool because they last for like five years.
But you have to remember that because these do use hormones, they aren't right for everyone.
I had a roommate who used the NuvaRing for about a month, and was an absolute bitch the entire time. Constantly moody and always rude, she was quick to get rid of the thing. Another friend, Bell- who I will probably mention a lot, hence her pseudonym- was put on like four different kinds of pill one after another because all of them kept giving her mood swings, infections, or what have you. It got to the point where now she doesn't even bother to use it.
But really, BC is worth a shot. I use Yaz and I've never had a problem with it, you just never know. Ask around, ask your doctor, stop by the local clinic, just do it. The last thing anyone needs is an unwanted pregnancy, so do your best to keep it from happening.

*Protection Point* Don't forget that birth control isn't always perfect. Unless you take your pill at EXACTLY the same time EVERY single day, you aren't using it 100% correctly, and it's easy to screw up. Always do you best to take it at the same time and ALWAYS use condoms, even if you use BC. Both as a backup for that extra 1.1% margin of error, and because no hormonal BC prevents STDs. So just be sure.

Condoms

Condoms are the most accessible form of birth control around. No prescriptions, no pills, no problems.
The main point of condoms is that they catch sperm so it doesn't enter the vagina. No meeting, no pregnancy. They also provide a limited protection from STDs, and they're the only birth control method that does, which is why they're so important.

Guys, never allow yourself to feel that birth control is a girls problem. And girls, never expect a guy to bring a condom. Never, for either of you. Always feel its your responsibility, that way you're always prepared. And really, it is your responsibility either way. Girls, we know it's no fun to have a baby. Boys, the last thing you need right now is some chick from that one night stand months back calling to say she's pregnant. Really, its unnecessary trouble. So keep it from happening. Condoms aren't cheap, I know, but do your best to keep your drawer full of them. Stop by your local clinic or student health center and grab a handful, then problem solved!

On another note, you know how guys always complain that they don't want to use condoms because it "feels different"? Don't fall for it! While condoms can reduce sensation by a tiny bit, it is not worth getting pregnant-or an STI- over. He's probably going to want to have sex with you no matter what, so insist! If you say "Condom or NO sex", he'll probably sulk a bit, but eventually cave.

There are even tons of instructions and videos on how to use them!
Here's a cute British one that includes what to do about foreskin and how to keep the condom from slipping.

*Protection Point* Don't forget that Pre-Cum (the stuff that comes out when I guy gets excited) can have sperm in it! Don't let the penis too close to the vagina until that things wrapped up.

Condoms are also great because they protect a variety of actions. They can- and should- also be used during Oral and Anal sex.
That last part's actually really important. A lot of young people think that because anal sex can't get them pregnant, they don't have to use a condom. They couldn't be any more wrong. Because the (I hate this word) anus is not actually made for sex, it isn't..well...it doesn't adapt as well. The vagina is a muscle, the anus isn't. It is also very fragile. Too hard of a push can tear the tissue, and that's how bacteria gets in. Whether it's an STD or HIV, its a whole lot easier to get it through unprotected anal sex than regular intercourse, even if you are gentle. This goes for everyone who has anal sex; heterosexual, homosexual, men, or women.

I think the biggest problem with BC Pills (etc) is that you typically need a prescription to get them. But really, that's not a big deal. Go to the doctor, talk to your mother, stop by the local clinic or Planned Parenthood (which doesn't need parental consent) and ask for it. Typically you shouldn't run into any problems.
Let me know if you do though, I'm curious.

Spermicide

This stuff is- essentially- like pesticide, only it kills sperm instead of bugs. But really, they're the same thing anyway, right? But that's it, really, it kills sperm. Not a lot of explanation needed.
The good thing about it is you can get it in a lubricant- which is very helpful stuff for most- in gels, individual packs, or already on condoms. I like spermicidal condoms because it's sort of like doubling your protection without needing anything extra. And the stuff is pretty damn easy to find. You can get it at most drug stores, sometimes Wal-Mart, and always at Adult stores, so it's not a complicated thing at all.

Spermicide is often used with Diaphragms and Cervical Caps (which we will talk about in the future), to help kill any sperm that gets through the cervical barrier.

*Protection Point* Please! Do not just use Spermicidal lubricant or gel and no condoms. Spermicide does NOT prevent STIs, and it is not even close to a 100% guarantee to prevent pregnancy either.

That's it for now. I hope it is helpful. In the next part we will cover the more female-based products like Cervical Caps, Diaphragms, and Female Condoms. Following that will be whatever's left over, along with those things that it is especially important NOT to use as a contraceptive.

Please, please, please don't forget to leave a comment to tell me what you think of this column, another column, or whatever. Whether its a question (always welcome!), a comment, of a suggestion, I'd love love love to hear from you!

Play Safe!
